Yorkshire County Cricket Club has announced the signing of Pakistani batsman Saud Shakeel for the initial part of the upcoming County Championship season. The 25-year-old will join Yorkshire in April and will be available for the early part of the County Championship.
Saud will be replacing injured Neil Wagner in the Yorkshire Club.
Shakeel made a thumping start to his international career against England and New Zealand. The southpaw scored 50s in each of his first five appearances and averaged 72.5 in the process.
Yorkshire’s new captain Shan Masood might not be available for the early matches as he is in line to get selected for the upcoming New Zealand tour.
Besides Saud, Pakistan’s speedstar Shaheen Shah Afridi will be representing Nottinghamshire for the 2023 Vitality Blast.
Hasan Ali has also joined Warwickshire for the upcoming edition of the County Championship. While Haider Ali will be representing Derbyshire in the competition.
Overall, many Pakistani cricketers will be playing a crucial role in the upcoming county cricket season in the England, with several big names from the country taking part in the competition.
